Summer lectures for cancer survivors

Great Lakes Cancer Institute-Clarkston presents a lecture series throughout the summer, 5:30-7 p.m. at the institute’s Community Room, McLaren Health Care Village, 5680 Bow Pointe Drive off Sashabaw Road.
‘Parenting Through Cancer,? July 14, presented by Gail Singer, MC, LLPC, art therapist, to help parents navigate the cancer journey with their children. Practical and hands-on suggestions will also be included, such as how to use art, play and stories to encourage communication.
‘The Challenge of Life After Cancer: Treatment is Over’Now What??, July 28, presented by Susan Yun, RN, LPC., addressing some of the numerous physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and financial issues cancer survivors and their families face after treatment and beyond.
‘Nutrition After Cancer,? Aug. 11, presented by Kelly Smiley, RD., directed at oncology health care professionals as well as patients to assist with the management of cancer symptoms and side effects of cancer treatment, using a proactive approach.
The series is open to the public and free to all participants. The series is designed to provide cancer survivors and others with information and resources to help them maintain their health and well-being.
