Davisburg offers fun summer activities and classes

Young At Heart Active Adults, weekly lunches, guest speakers, musical performances, field trips, holiday parties, movies, bingo, games and much, much more! Yearly membership includes six newsletters per year. Non-members are welcome to attend as well. Thursdays, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm; Lunch is served at noon, Hart Community Center in Davisburg for those 50 and up or individuals with disabilities of any age. Yearly membership: $ 5 per person. Water Ski Show, featuring Davisburg’s own Spray Masters Water Ski Club & Show Team, 7 p.m., July 22, at Big Lake in Davisburg. $3 per person, free for children 2 and under. Bring lawn chairs. Rain or shine.

Sand Volleyball Camp, led by coach Jamie Jones, co-ed camp teaches players basic skills including passing, serving, hitting, setting, importance of teamwork and having fun. Participants encouraged to bring their own ball if they have one. Some balls available. No prior experience necessary. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt. Resident rates apply to those residing in Springfield Township. A minimum number of participants are required to hold each camp. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but will be accepted the first day provided the minimum has been met and there are still openings.

Elementary Spanish, 1-1:45 p.m., Wednesdays, through July 28, Hart Community Center, for 6-10 years old. $40/resident; $45/non-resident. Colors, Numbers, common phrases, and verbs will be learned through song, movement, and fun activities.

Dog training, basic obedience for Teens & Adults, with commands come, sit, stay, down and finish. Bring training treats to all classes and have a training collar. Thursdays, Aug. 12-Sept. 2, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Mill Pond Park in Davisburg, $80/residents, $85/non-residents.
Novice Obedience for Teens & Adults, goal to have your dog working off a leash, while understanding and obeying to all hand signals. Bring training treats to all classes and have a training collar. Thursdays, August-September, 7-8 p.m., Mill Pond Park in Davisburg, $80/residents, $85/non-residents.
One-day Training Class, offering each owner a chance to address specific issues, including excessive barking, jumping up on you or your guests, biting, and general poor behavior. Informal discussion. Be prepared with questions and concerns. 11 a.m.-12 p.m., July 24. Mill Pond Park in Davisburg. $20/residents, $25/non-residents.

Off-Road Vehicle, O.R.V. safety, teaching participants to be safe and responsible operators. Course topics includes safe operating skills, maintenance, operating on different types of terrain, environmental considerations, laws and requirements, proper clothing, personal preparedness and survival skills needed in emergency situations. This class does not include ‘hands on? training. Participants must successfully pass the test to receive the ORV Safety Certificate from the Michigan DNR. 9 a.m.-4 p.m., July 24, Hart Community Center in Davisburg. Under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. $15/resident, $20/non-resident.

Adult Tennis, ‘Get in the Game? Level 2, building on fundamentals by utilizing a games based approach to teach strategy and tactics. Expect plenty of fun and fast paced friendly games.
