Cyclist, 15, in stable condition

A 15-year-old Oxford boy is reported to be in stable condition at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak after being hit by a motor vehicle July 19 in front of the Oxford Marketplace shopping plaza.
According to the village police, the boy was riding his bicycle south on the sidewalk along M-24 when he stopped for a vehicle that was also stopped, but preparing to turn right and head north on M-24.
The vehicle was driven by a 42-year-old Flint man.
According to police, the boy proceeded in front of the vehicle, assuming the driver saw him and was letting him pass.
However, the driver reportedly didn’t see the boy and when he proceeded to turn, his vehicle struck the cyclist.
Oxford paramedics treated the boy at the scene and transported him to the hospital. ‘All reports right now show that he’s in stable condition,? said village Police Officer Clint Ascroft. ‘X-rays (show) no internal injuries thus far.?
Ascroft said the boy was ‘pretty lucid? at the scene as he responded to questions.
No citations have been issued as the accident remains under investigation. ? CJC
