X-cellent! Lake Orion kids going pro in BMX competition

Getting an invitations to the X Games for BMX bike competition is the honor of honors, say BMX enthusiasts. And this year, two of Lake Orion’s own — Lauren Vellucci and Brandon Dosch — are heading to Los Angelas, CA for the event.
Dosch is a professional BMX rider and a 2007 Lake Orion High School graduate. He started riding in 1999 and turned pro in 2007.
This year is his third year traveling on Dew Tour, where he placed second in dirt and seventh in park last season.
‘One of the best parts of BMX is that’I get to travel around the world,? he said. ‘Dew tour starts back up July 23’and the first stop is in Chicago. The weekend of July 29’I will be in LA competing in? X Games 16.?
Vellucci is the 15-year-old daughter of Wendy and Pete Vellucci, of Lake Orion, and a LOHS grad.
She went pro in April when she placed second at Jomo Pro 2010 in Missouri.
Vellucci has been riding BMX for four years, and has been riding in pro competions for the last year, taking home many awards and prizes.
She teaches bmx camps and clinics and shows for Waterford Oaks for Vert Villagebmx.com. Her mom says Vellucci has a dream of being one of the best girl BMX riders in the world.
