Ortonville- The village council voted unanimously at their July 26 meeting to hire Beth Forys as the new village treasurer.
Forys, an Atlas Township resident, was the Atlas Township office manager from 2004 to 2009, performing accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll duties and working closely with the clerk and treasurer. She also served for 25 years as the bookkeeper for Interamco, a grinding and polishing maching manufacturing company based in Flint.
‘We’re very lucky to have her,? said Larry Brown, who held the treasurer position before being named village manager last month. ‘We had a dozen applicants and interviewed six. She was the best qualified candidate.?
Forys will work about 20 hours per week and will be compensated at a rate of $18 per hour.
She is married to Fred Forys, Atlas Township fire chief. They have two children, Ryan and Kelly, and one granddaughter, Hannah.
