Briefly: Two weeks ’til Dragon time

The Orion Art Center will present its second annual Dragon on the Lake festival Aug. 28, 29, 2010 in downtown Lake Orion from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Festivities include street painting (chalk art), art exhibits and demonstrations, art for sale, live entertainment, family games and activities, food from local eateries, and a Dragon Pub beer and wine tent until 10 p.m. Saturday evening. Evening activities include a dragon tattoo contest, live music and many artistic elements in and around the Orion Art Center.
The Lake Orion Lake Association is sponsoring Boat Parade of Lights on Lake Orion, Friday, Aug. 27 at 8:30 p.m. Boaters are invited to decorate and light their boats and follow the fire breathing dragon around the lake to kick off the festival. Call 248-701-7399 for more information.
The Lake Orion Boat Club invites boaters to an afterglow following Friday’s lighted parade.
The LO United Methodist Church will host a silent charity auction where community members and businesses can donate an item or a service, and choose a charity that the proceeds will go to. The auction will be open 11a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Call 248-693-6201 ext. 210 for details.
