OCEF sale nets $7,500

Dear Editor,
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers, shoppers, and donors who helped make the seventh annual OCEF Sale a huge success.
At this time we have raised over $7,500 thanks to the generosity and support of our local community. This money will be used strictly for food purchases. OCEF is able to purchase large discounted bulk items through a food bank for a tremendous savings. Much of the money also stays in our local community as gift cards to Bueche’s or Cook’s Farm Dairy which are used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. In the month of August, 141 unduplicated families in the Brandon School District received emergency food assistance. This number is comprised of 282 adults and 232 children.
Thank you again to all the businesses, churches, and community members who participated in this year’s annual sale. You are what makes Ortonville such a terrific place to live!
Sue Roberts, OCEF Sale committee
