State Representative Ruth Johnson (R- Holly), together with other community leaders, joined the Brandon Groveland Youth Assistance on March 27 for its annual Youth Recognition Program which honored 102 area young people.
Awards were given for volunteer service to an individual, organization or community; or for improving grades and attitude.
“Year after year we have this unique opportunity to recognize the young people of our area for their volunteer work,” Johnson said. “All combinded, these students have donated hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to help others and improve our community. I take great comfort in knowing that these youth are our future leaders.”
Also present at the event were many other local offials including Brandon Township Supervisor Ron Lapp and Groveland Township Supervisor Bob DePalma
“The best way to ensure the continued involvement of these youth in the community is to recognize their efforts,” Lapp said.
DePalma said, “I appreciate the hard work and discipline these students invest in improving themselves and helping others. By nuturing these attitudes early on we can help them become better citizens.”
