A 35-year-old Oxford man who sexually assaulted an underage girl and took explicit photographs of her will learn his fate next month.
Joseph Hnanicek pleaded no contest in Oakland County Circuit Court Oct. 20 to four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC), one count manufacturing child sexually abusive material and one count using a computer to manufacture child sexually abusive material.
He’s scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 10 before Circuit Judge Edward Sosnick.
First-degree CSC carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, while the other two felony charges are each punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
According to authorities, Hnanicek began sexually abusing the girl when she was 10 years old and continued his assaults through the age of 14. When Hnanicek was arrested in May, he was initially charged with the four counts first-degree CSC.
The other two charges were later added after investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department found sexually explicit photographs of the victim stored on Hnanicek’s computer.
