Clarkston Area Optimist Club sponsors an Essay Contest. Students can win awards and scholarships by writing an essay, topic ‘How My Education is the Key to a Successful Future.?
Winners at the local level will receive awards, and the winning essay will advance to the district level, which awards a $2,500 scholarship. District winners advance to the International level.
Applicants must be a Clarkston-area student in grades 9-12, and under age 19 as of Dec. 31, 2010. Deadline for submission of essays is 12 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011.

Optimist essay contest
Clarkston Area Optimist Club offers up to $6,000 in scholarships in its Essay Contest.
Applicants need to be a high school student under age 19 as of Dec. 31, 2007. Topic is ‘Today’s Choices Shape My Future.?
Deadline for submission is noon, Friday, Feb. 8.
