Springfield Township Board approved a 180-day medical marijuana moratorium , Dec. 1.
Approved in concept at the board’s November meeting, township attorney Greg Need prepared a moratorium resolution. The resolution was approved unanimously.
During the moratorium, township planners will investigate how to regulate medical marijuana use and facilities.
In November 2008, voters approved the citizen-initiated law Michigan Medical Marijuana Act, passed by 63 percent of Michigan voters.
In Springfield Township, voters approved the law, with 4,839 voting yes, 62.41 percent, and 2,915 voting no, 37.59 percent.
