A Dec. 27 traffic stop in Orion Township resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old Detroit man who allegedly stole more than $74,000 in items from a manufacturing facility in the Village of Oxford.
Kenneth Darnell Hall is facing five charges in connection with the alleged burglary of Master Manufacturing, Inc. located at 675 S. Glaspie St.
Charges include breaking and entering (10-year felony); receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000 (10-year felony); unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle (five-year felony); stealing or retaining a stolen financial device (four-year felony); and driving with a suspended license, second or subsequent offense (one-year misdemeanor).
The stolen financial device mentioned above was a credit card allegedly taken from Master Manufacturing.
Hall is expected to be arraigned Wednesday, Dec. 29 via video in the Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, Hall was stopped by a deputy in Orion Township Monday after he allegedly ran a red light at M-24 and Silverbell Rd. around 5:24 a.m.
During the stop, the deputy observed the stake truck driven by Hall was loaded with power equipment, various metal parts and tools. A large safe was sitting on the front seat in plain view.
A computer check at the scene revealed that Hall had a suspended driver’s license along with felony family offense and civil warrants with bonds totalling more than $13,000. Both were bench warrants from Wayne County Friend of the Court. He also had traffic warrants out of Detroit.
As a result, Hall was arrested.
Deputies requested the Oxford Village Police check Master Manufacturing, the business to which the truck was registered. Village officers determined the business had been broken into and that a truck, safe, parts and other equipment totalling more than $74,000 had been stolen, according to the sheriff’s department.
The sheriff’s Crime Lab was dispatched to process the scene.
‘Investigators believe that Mr. Hall had assistance in committing these crimes,? according to a statement issued by the sheriff’s department. ‘The investigation is continuing and more arrests may occur.?
Hall’s record includes prior arrests for drugs and stolen property crimes.
