Spencer Garrett was among 200 Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, May 6. He will specialize in family medicine. The new physicians will be taking internships and residencies at community hospitals to complete their education.

Local student Angela Bennett demonstrated some outstanding academic work at Albion College’s Elkin R. Isaac Research Symposium. Bennett co-presented an international business exercise done by Gerstacker students paired with students at an international business school in Versailles, France.
Bennett is a sophomore at Albion College with a concentration in the Gerstacker liberal arts program in professional management and the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service. She is the daughter of Pauline Bennett, of Oxford, and a graduate of Lake Orion High School.

Hailey, a Lake Orion High School student, participated in The University of Findlay’s Scholarship Competition Day, Dec. 5.
Hailey is the daughter of Kelly and Mark Redd, of Lake Orion. Her activities include Key Club, National Honor Society, Leadership, student mentor, peer mediator and soccer. Hailey was one of 180 students from around the country who competed for merit scholarships worth up to $5,000. High-ability students were selected based on high school grade point average and ACT or SAT scores.

Central Michigan University (CMU) junior Elizabeth Gray, of Lake Orion, competed in the NASCAR Kinetics: Marketing in Motion competition.
Gray, a graduate of Lake Orion Community High School, is the daughter of Jon and Becky Gray.
As a participant in the competition, Gray worked with a team of four of her fellow CMU students as they responded to a case study based upon everyday challenges facing NASCAR and its sponsors.
CMU will compete against five other universities, including Winston-Salem State University, University of Notre Dame, Coastal Carolina University, Howard University and Clark Atlanta University.
