Police seek bomb-threat robber

Investigation continues into a robbery of the Sashabaw Road Kroger’s store in Independence Township.
According to police, a white man about 40 years old, 5 foot, 5 inches, thin build wearing glasses, green jacket, and camouflage hat, put a package on the counter of the pharmacy and demanded Vicodin, saying he had a bomb, 6:20 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20. The store was evacuated and area secured for Michigan State Police Bomb Squad. They arrived at 8:04 p.m., and, using a remote controlled robot, cleared the scene at 9:05 p.m.
Also, a deputy’s car out of Springfield Township assisting at the scene caught fire, at 6:50 p.m. It was an electrical fire inside the engine compartment. Deputies disconnected the battery and extinguished it.
