Entrepreneurs and real estate investors interested in buying, leasing or building commercial space in downtown Oxford will soon have their opportunity to look over what’s available.
The Oxford Downtown Development Authority is putting together a property tour to showcase all the vacant properties within its district in hopes of spurring more economic development.
‘I’m glad to see that we’re going to try and get this accomplished,? said DDA Board Member Chuck Schneider.
Madonna Van Fossen, director of the DDA, was recently directed by the board to put together a work plan, complete with advertising budget, for a property tour and present it at the DDA’s Monday, Feb. 21 meeting.
Van Fossen was originally planning to make Realtors the target of this property tour, but Schneider, who owns numerous properties in downtown Oxford and Lake Orion, told her that wasn’t the way to go.
‘They would be Number Three in the pecking order,? he explained. ‘Who you’re after are business owners and potential property owners and potential developers. The Realtors are not who you’re after.?
