Fourteen Clarkston students earned statewide honors in Reflections, Parent Teacher Association’s nationwide art competition.

Gipe, Mead, and Witzke were also chosen to represent Michigan at the national level.
The Clarkston students’ art work will be showcased along with more than 144 state-level, award-winning entries at the Michigan Parent Teacher Student Association (MPTSA) Reflections Reception, Saturday, March 26, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings Lake Road.
Reception is 9-10 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony starting at 10 a.m.
‘PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program,? said Kim Trombley, Clarkston PTA Council Reflections chairperson. ‘This is the largest number of state and national entrants from Clarkston we’ve ever had.?
The public is welcome to enjoy the creativity and talent of some of the most artistic students in the state, Trombley said.
More than 120 students from CCS entered the Reflections competition this year, with 14 advancing to state competition.
Clarkston state winners will be recognized by the Clarkston PTA Council at the school board meeting on Monday, May 9.
The Reflections program offers students in preschool through grade 12 the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. It celebrates the many skills of students and encourages them to pursue artistic expression in a number of different ways including Film/Video Production, Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts and Literature.
