Brandon Twp.- Michael Tucker received unanimous approval from the school board Monday night to become the new assistant principal of Brandon High School.
Tucker comes to the district with a long list of credentials and is excited to become part of the Brandon family.
‘I can’t wait to get started,? said Tucker, who has been an English teacher at Bentley High School for the past 14 years. ‘I will always put kids first. We’re all here together for the betterment of Brandon and can overcome anything.?
In April, Tucker received a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in K-12 educational leadership and administration. He earned his first master’s degree, in the art of teaching, from Marygrove College in 2000.
Besides teaching English to ninth-11th graders, Tucker has served in numerous other capacities at Bentley, including being the National Honor Society adviser for eight years; the North Central Accreditation co-chair for a 5-year cycle; head teacher for the Bentley High School building for six years; and he has also coached numerous Bentley teams, including middle school track, girls and boys basketball, and football, as well as varsity track, junior varsity football, and varsity football.

‘I’ve heard nothing but good things about this district,? said Tucker. ‘I saw Brandon in track meets and the coaches, parents, and kids seemed so nice. I went on the(Brandon District) website and saw everything that Brandon does and offers kids and that is something I want to be a part of.?

Tucker, the son of two retired teachers, has been married to his wife, Laurie, a preschool and kindergarten teacher in Bentley, for 14 years. They have two children, a daughter, Noelle, 10, and son, Caden, 7.
