Three Clarkston kids represented themselves well at the Optimist’s State Tri-Star Basketball Competition.
Jason Ray took first place in the 11-year-old boys group. Conner Hall took first place in the nine-years-old boys group while Taylor Hasselbach won third place in the 11-years-old girls group.
‘I would like to congratulate them and all the other Clarkston participants including Mac McClelland, Rawley Hallman, Joshua Rappuhn, Jarred Horner, Karrissa Ogans and Haley Durrant,? Optimist Board of Directors Tri-Star Basketball Chairman Craig Judd said.
‘You honorably represented your town and the Optimist creed that encourages one to be strong, to look at the sunny side of everything, to think and work for the best and to meet everyone with a smile.?
In March, the Clarkston Optimist Club sponsored their annual basketball skills contest at Independence Elementary for boys and girls ages eight to 13.
The first place winner in each age category, both boys and girls, earned the opportunity to represent Clarkston at the state level.
