Concerts continue for a cause

Sad summer Concerts in the Park season’s over? Don’t be, because Lend A Helping Hand is hosting two more concerts in Depot Park.
Jessica Carmichael will take the stage Friday, Aug. 5, 7-9 p.m.
‘She is a singer/song writer who does both rock and folk and she writes her own stuff,? said Michelle Phaup, founder of Lend a Helping Hand. ‘I think everything she plays that night will be an original.?
“I feel very lucky to be able to play the concert again this year. I really think LAHH is a fantastic organization, and I am more than happy to be able to participate this year,” Carmichael said. “Music can spread positivity faster than any other source on earth. I hope I am able to make some people smile this Friday.”
The second concert will be on Aug 12, 7:30-9 p.m. Youth rock band Third Rock will play old classic rock hits.
‘Differently this year that we didn’t do last year is have silent auction items,? Phaup said. ‘We will also have concessions.?
All proceeds go to help Lend a Helping Hand to help two people with cancer.
The first is Mark Roby who has a rare form of liver cancer, epitheloid emangioendothelioma.
‘Only 125 people in the world have been diagnosed with this disease,? Phaup said. ‘He is on a mission to help other people survive cancer and other diseases.?
The second is Sue Memhard, who has breast cancer for the third time.
‘The one thing unique about her is because it’s the third time, she can’t do any chemo because her body has had the maximum amount. She has to do a lot of alternative holistic,? Phaup said. “Both of them (Mark and Sue) have medical insurance but even with medical insurance, they still have a lot of out of pocket cost, so we’re helping them so they can continue to get the treatments they need.?
LAHH is looking for business sponsorship and silent auction items. For information or to donate, contact Phaup at Michelle@lendahelpinghand.org, call 248-394-1415, or check www.lendahelpinghand.org
‘We hope that a lot of people will come to the concerts and show their support,? Phaup said.
