Everest Academy Girls Volleyball team made an impression on Sept. 6.
In their first volleyball match, they defeated Macomb Christian in three sets (25-6, 25-12, 25-19)
Claire Kitz had 13 kills and three blocks, Shannon McDunnough had 11 assists and five aces, and Megan Luttinen had six aces, 17 service receptions and five digs.
The Lady Mountaineers added another win after their game against Jewish Academy last Thursday.
During the girls home game they beat the visitors 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-15). Kitz have five kills and Claire Lasceski had four kills.
The last three years the players have been part of a volleyball co-op team with Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes.
The next home game for the volleyball teams is Thursday against Cabrini High School. Freshman plays at 5 p.m., JV at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity team at 5 p.m.

As part of the Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes co-op varsity football team, the Mountaineers aided in the win over Riverview Gabriel Richard.
Our Lady of Lakes scored a touchdown each quarter for the 28-7 win.
Jake Doetsch scored on two 5-yard runs in the first half and also added two points after touchdown.
Sean Thomas opened the second half with a 10-yard run and Doetsch scored on the PAT.
Vinny Puma scored on the last touchdown and the last PAT was made by Christian Heiss.
The win put the team 1-0 in the Catholic League Intersection and put them 2-1 overall.
The team hosts Detroit Catholic Central on Saturday, 1 p.m.
