Oxford’s gone to the dogs!
A total of 175 people and 70 dogs participated in the K-9 Stray Rescue League’s ‘Wag & Walk? fund-raiser on Saturday morning at Powell Lake Township Park.
‘I’m very excited by the turnout,? said Oxford resident Kelly Barker, who serves on the group’s Board of Directors.
The event generated approximately $3,500 for the rescue group.
In addition to raising money, K-9 Stray Rescue held the event to spotlight the progress of previous adoptions.
‘It’s very nice to see (the dogs) come back looking so good and loved,? Barker said. ‘Most of the participants here are previous adopters.?
The event helped give the rescue group more exposure within the community.
‘A lot of people don’t even know we’re in Oxford,? Barker said. ‘We’re just trying to get our name out there.?
K-9 Stray Rescue is located at 2120 Metamora Rd. in Oxford Township. For more information, please call (248) 628-0435 or visit on-line at www.dogsaver.org/k9srl/
