Ortonville- The holiday shopping season kicks into high gear this month and area residents can find locally made, unique gifts by visiting the Brandon Boutique & Craft Show, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 12, at the Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School gymnasium, 300 South St.
‘This is your chance to shop locally for Christmas right here, from crafty people,? said Candee Allen, show coordinator. ‘I’m always impressed with how creative they are. Some work on their crafts all year-round and you can tell this is their love.?
This is the third year in a row that Brandon Township Parks and Recreation has hosted the show. The recreation department brought the show back in 2009 after a six-year break. The show dates back more than 35 years and for about 25 years was hosted by teachers at the former H.T. Burt Elementary.
This year’s show will feature at least 33 vendors with a variety of wares, including jewelry, totes, Chenille dolls, stuffed animals, purses, furniture, lamps, shelves, toy chests, ornaments, quilts, baby clothing and gear, towels, art, toys and more.
Allen notes that there are eight new vendors this year, and the rest are returning.
‘That’s phenomenal? they love to come back,? she said. ‘I think they like our prices and hometown atmosphere and they just enjoy being in Ortonville… Everything is nicely decorated, vendors take great pride in displaying their goods. Shoppers will not be unhappy, there is something for everyone.?
Proceeds from the $2 admission fee (ages 12 and up) as well as the vendor space rental fees benefit recreation programs in the township, keeping costs down for parents.
Lunch will be available in the BFIS cafeteria during the craft show, with proceeds benefitting field trips and special activities for Brandon Alternative High School students. Papa Bella’s Pizza, hot dogs, coffee, doughnuts, and more are available.
