Local tire dealers got a hands-on demonstration of some of their products, courtesy of the Goodyear Professional Driving Team.
“They’re premium tires ? dealers get to try them out,” said Sarah Chandler, representing Goodyear.
Dealers, and members of the media, braved Goodyear’s high-speed obstacle course at the DTE Energy Music Theatre parking lot, testing out their TripleTred All-Season and ComforTred Touring tires.
The All-Season tire was put to the test in a hosed down course in which the driver was instructed to hydroplane the vehicle in a tight, high-speed turn.
“The grooves channel away water for better road contact,” Chandler said. “It’s an amazing tire.”
It’s also designed to grab ice in winter and provides continued traction even when it wears down, she said.
The tour traveled around the country, ending with the Clarkston visit, Oct. 25-26.
