Twenty-two talented Oxford High School senior art students presented their works to the public at an art show May 29. Art teacher Becky Ziemianski said the annual spring event is an opportunity for students to show off any of their work from kindergarten through the 12th grade. ‘It’s anything they want to put on display to show the progress they’ve made,? she said. ‘Mainly, it’s supposed to represent their array of talent, their diversity.?
‘What good is the art if other people don’t see it and enjoy it. (The students) like to do stuff then shove it in a bin and keep it for themselves. This is their chance to shine for everybody,? Ziemianski added.

Oxford Elementary students went on a field trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Tuesday and they didn’t even have to leave their own parking lot.
Parked right outside the school was DIA Away: Think Like an Artist, a 53-foot double-expandable trailer that serves as a mobile, interactive classroom and creative exploration space where visitors can learn how artists think and work.
There were plenty of activities for the kids as they tested their own artistic talents and ability to think creatively.

If you were standing outside the doors of Oxford High School’s Fine Arts Center Feb. 7, you might have thought Beethoven or Mozart was on the other side.
It was actually the sounds of the Oakland Youth Orchestra’s studio string, string, philharmonia and symphony orchestra playing their winter concert.
Featured in the atrium of the Fine Arts Center were metal, glass and rock sculptures done by Oxford resident Herb Babcock.

Lake Orion Community Education students were feeling just about picture perfect during a weekly acrylic painting class held at the CERC Building on Thursday. Look for new classes to begin April 15.
