Hello Lake Orion, I’m the new guy. Well, new to Lake Orion that is.
If anyone has read the Review’s sister publiclation the Clarkston News. You may have seen my byline or recognize my picture in this column, which sadly needs to be updated.
So what’s my history you ask? I graduated from Lapeer East High School in 2003, and then went on to Rochester College (in Rochester Hills) where I graduated with a BA in English and minor in Communications.
From there I was given the chance to become a staff writer for the CNews, where I’ve spent my past five years expanding my skills as a writer and a journalist. I covered both Independence Township and the City of the Village of Clarkston governments, as well as writing plenty of ‘warm feeling? features.
When the opportunity for me to expand my skills even further and join Gabe as Co-Editor here at the Review I decided to throw my hat into the ring (with a little nudging from Assistant Publisher Don Rush.)
Besides writing I am a newly married man to my lovely and beautiful wife Noell, of seven months. We live in Lapeer where we share a house with our energetic ‘little tiger? Mozart or ‘Mo? for short. I am also an avid sports fan. I love all the Detroit teams, even though the Pistons could use some help. As Tigers Baseball kicks off on opening day Thursday I will be sporting my Tigers tie with pride.
Beside Detroit teams I am a big fan of University of Michigan Football. I am aware I am in Dragon territory where colors are symbolic of Michigan State with the green and white; however, I will root for my Blue and Gold college team loud and proud.
As for journalism itself, I believe the best journalism is that which is true, balanced, and fair. As I told the faithful readers of the CNews, ‘I may not get it 100 percent correct every time, but I can promise you I will give it my best every time.?
I look forward to serving the Lake Orion community and with the help of Gabe and our interns, putting out the best paper Lake Orion has had yet. So, if you see me on the street or on the beat stop and say hello or if you got a news tip, pass that along too.
