Orion Oaks baseball fields getting new dugouts, courtesy of local boys scouts

By the start of the upcoming season, the baseball fields at Orion Oaks Elementary will have new dugouts. The project is being spearheaded by local boy scout Nicholas Klaus, 17, of Lake Orion.

Klaus, who is pursuing Eagle Scout status, will be managing the project, with plenty of help from Oxford/Orion Troop 108. The first step will be the pouring of cement at the two diamonds, creating a solid floor for all four dugouts.

Klaus presented his plan before the Lake Orion Youth Baseball League (LOYBL) board at its April 10 meeting. The board unanimously pledged its support of Klaus? project and lauded him on his community activism.
