Deputy’s quick work returns stolen bike

Thanks to the quick thinking of Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Sara Myers, an 8-year-old boy on Hunters Rill got his stolen bike back.
Deputy Myers was sent to investigate after the youth’s mother saw another boy riding the stolen bike to their house with a rent check. Upon arrival, the officer realized that the 14-year-old boy being described to her was one she had dealt with in April for bike theft.
In the sheriff’s report Myers writes, ‘I am familiar with the subject Mr. Topham was describing, because I had had a similar report.?
The deputy was able to go to the 14-year-old youth’s home immediately and retrieve the stolen bike, which had been painted and had the tires and handle bars removed.
The youth was petitioned for larceny of bike.
