Playing like the pros

The Dragons got a taste of the big time on Aug. 31, and thanks to the beating they delivered to Troy Athens, the Red Hawks got their taste as well.
The clock ran down and the score board read 68-20 extended the Dragons? winning streak to two games. From the beginning the Dragons dominated the Red Hawks on all sections of play, holding the team to just under 300 yards gain. Conversely, the Dragons managed 513 yards, about 450 of which was rushing.
Running was led by junior Zachary Arnold with 140 yards on five carries and junior Corey Ester with 130 on 10 carries. Head Coach Chris Bell said running on the perimeter was key to the victory and proved difficult to stop for the Red Hawks. A final touch down at the half, bringing the score to 34-13, gave Orion the momentum to finish.
Notably, the Dragons made three interceptions, two from senior Nick Vogelmeier and one from senior Nick Booker. They also delivered a number of long distance returns, including a rush from Booker for around 70 yards for a touchdown and a sack from junior lineman Trent Elkins.
The Dragons are back on the turf this Friday, away against the West Bloomfield High School Lakers.
