Swimmers sink against Royal Oak

The Oxford girls swimming and diving team got some strong performances last week, but fell short in a match against a highly-talented Royal Oak team.
Oxford lost 102-78.
Coach Jackie Rank said her team learned and will grow as a team and individual swimmers as a result.
‘I knew it was going to be a really tough meet and I’m proud of the way our girls fought. We had some outstanding swims and many learning moments to grow from,? Rank said.
The team had a home match on Tuesday against Brandon.
The results versus Royal Oak:
200 Medley Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Liverance, Wilkins, Curtis, and Kornburger took 2nd with a time of 2:03.33.
200 Freestyle: Sophomore Taylor Curtis took 1st with a time of 2:08.32. Senior Captain Courtney Lavender finished in 5th place.
200 Individual Medley: Sophomore Sydney Liverance had a strong 1st place finish with a time of 2:36.28. Caitlyn Wroblewski and Elizabeth Wilkins finished in 3rd and 4th respectively.
50 Freestyle: Junior Haley Kornburger came in 2nd with a time of 25.87. Abbie Fredericks finished in 4th.
Diving: Junior Abigail Kronenberg finished in 2nd place with 80.2 points.
100 Butterfly: Sophomore Abbie Fredericks finished in 2nd place with a personal best time of1:16.17. Sammi Kurk finished in 5th place.
100 Freestyle: Taylor Curtis came in 1st place with a time of 58.37. Senior
Captain Miranda Murphy rounded out the top 5.
500 Freestyle: Haley Kornburger dropped two second from last week to finish in
1st place with a time of 5:27.54. Marissa Johnson came in 3rd palce for Oxford.
200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Dedvukaj, Liverance, Fredericks, and Johnson came in 2nd with a time of 1:59.07. Oxford’ B Relay of Wilkins, Christie, Deck, and Murphy finished in 3rd.
100 Backstroke: Sydney Liverance finished in 3rd place with a time of 1:11.84.
Allison Miller rounded out the top five.
100 Breaststroke: Elizabeth Wilkins finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:22.35. Caitlyn Wroblewski finished in 3rd place.
400 Freestyle Relay: Oxford’s A Relay of Curtis, Johnson, Fredericks, and Kornburger finished in 1st palce with a time of 4:07.24.
