At Clarkston Independence District Library’s public hearing on its 2013 budget, Dec. 19, Director Julie Meredith estimated the library’s funding is $104,802 less than in 2012.
In 2013, the library’s revenues will be $1,030,798 and its expenditures are projected at $1,038,316. The library board voted unanimously to take the $7,518 difference from the fund balance, which is $219,569. In 2012, the library brought in $1,135,600 and spent $1,128,800.
As a result of the lower revenues in 2013, the library has eliminated a full-time position and reduced its hours of operation.
