Bowlers score wins over Christmas break

The Oxford Wildcat Bowling team was in action against the Bears of Berkley on Thursday, January 3. The match was held at Collier Lanes in Oxford.
‘The boys varsity once again found themselves down 10-0 after losing 2 baker games 196 to 211 and 185 to 191.
The Wildcats would rally, however, in the first game, winning 1063 to 759. Leading the way with a strong game of 248 was Sean McKinney. Brady Wynkoop had a 227, Brandon Hurlburt scored a 218, Kyle Woody had 189 and Drew Pappas finished with a 181.
The Oxford boys would finish off the Bears in the second game, winning 957 to 873. Game 2 scores were Hurlburt 204, Kevon Dixon 199, Jake Delong 190, Shawn Donaldson 192 and Mckinney with a 172. Final score of the match was 18 to 12.?

The varsity girls split baker games and headed into heads up play down 6-4.
The Lady Cats would roar back with Captain Brooke Harris leading the way. Brooke threw her high game of the year (202) followed by Caitlyn Wroblewski 197, Alyssa Hurlburt 177, Hannah Farmer 146 and Ashley Miller 135. The Wildcats won the first game 857 to 622. The Wildcats completed their comeback winning 587 to 541 in game 2. The final score in the match was 22 to 8 in favor of the Wildcats.?

Bowling Coach J.R. Lafnear said bowling during a holiday breal is a challenge.
‘Keeping the kids sharp and focused is difficult,? he said. ‘The team did a good job tonight getting the win.?
‘The boys bowled well in baker games but missed a couple easy spares that cost them both games. I was proud to see them keep their focus and do a great job coming back to win the match,? he added. ‘The girls bowled against an inexperienced team and did what they needed to win.?
