Junior Jacob LaPorte led the Wolves in their success over OAA Red rivals Oxford last Thursday with two goals.
The Clarkston Varsity Hockey team won the game 6-2 after scoring four unanswered goals in the third period.
It came after a back and forth battle throughout the first two periods, where the lead was traded twice before the second period ended in a 2-2 tie.
Junior Chase Wiedemann had one goal and assisted on both of LaPorte’s goals. Junior Shawn Cotter also assisted on one of LaPorte’s goals. LaPorte also had an assist.
Juniors Garrett Polish, Roman Reiner and Kyle Hogarth added one goal each to round out the scoring.
The game was a penalty marred grudge match with Clarkston in the box eight times to Oxford’s ten trips.
The Wolves made 38 shots on Oxford’s goalkeeper, Justin Gizinski while Clarkston’s goalie junior Nick Surovec saved 22 of the Wildcats’s attempts.
The win moved the boys up to fourth place in the OAA Red putting their league record 2-2-1 and their overall record 8-7-1.
The Wolves are on the road as they take on Howell on Thursday. They are back home on Saturday as they take on rival Lake Orion at 8 p.m. at Detroit Skating Club, 888 Denison Court, Bloomfield Hills.
They head to Onyx next Tuesday for another OAA Red battle against Stoney Creek, 6:30 p.m.
