With the use of grant money and bond money all of Oxford elementary schools are getting a wireless upgrade.
The Oxford Community School’s Board of Education approved $109,553 upgrade by a 6-0 vote, Trustee Bill Keenist was absent. Of that amount $54,300 will come from a state of Michigan grant known as the 22.i Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant.
‘The state of Michigan this year allocated so many dollars per student,? said Tim Throne, executive director of strategic initiatives & technologies for Oxford Schools. ‘I want to say it’s $10 (per student) to help every individual district get ready for online tests.?
The remaining $55,253 will come from bond money. The wireless upgrade, according to Throne, will be built for ‘one-to-one? capabilities like at the middle school and high school, meaning one computer or handheld tablet PC in the hands of every student.
