When Brian Weiveman clocked into work at the Goodrich Country Club for his usual 5:30 a.m. shift, he noticed someone had paid a visit to hole number 11 sometime during the night.
A vehicle drove over the steep bank off Ridge Road between the hours of 2:30-5:30 a.m. on June 28 to gain access to the green, causing more than $10,000 worth of damage. It’s not the first time that hole 11 had been vandalized.
Deputy Sheriff Kyle Guest with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department checked out the course during the night, but didn’t report anything out of the ordinary. Fire Chief Jim Naugler, also an employee at the country club, said, ‘The hole is very damaged. It can still be played, but the golfers will have to work around it. We have re-done the areas will seed, but it may not take, so then we’ll have to go to sod. It will probably take eight-12 weeks to grow.?
A sign in front of the country club states a reward will be given for $500 to anyone who has information about the suspect[s] upon their arrest and conviction or call (810) 636-2493 to report information.
