To help celebrate 65 years in business, the Curtis Insurance Agency (25 N. Washington St.) in downtown Oxford will host a Community Appreciation Day on Friday, May 10 from 2-6 p.m.
The event will feature snacks, beverages, an i-Pod Touch giveaway and an artistic demonstration by Dusty Elder, who will show off his unique talent for paper-cutting.
‘We’re inviting past customers, current customers, future customers, friends, family, essentially the whole town, to celebrate with us because when there is something worth celebrating, we should,? said Greg Clay, co-owner of Curtis Insurance.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting will occur at 4 p.m. with a variety of local officials and dignitaries taking part.
Founded in 1948 by Ralph R. Curtis, the Curtis Insurance Agency has grown to be a prominent, mid-sized agency in northern Oakland County.
‘Our customers are like family,? said Curtis Insurance Agent Kathy Hoeflein. ‘Everyone gets special attention. It’s the main reason I love working here.?
