Oxford Twp. is ready to engage in some economic development as the board of trustees last week voted 7-0 to approve a resolution that accepted joining Oakland County’s One Stop Ready Program.
Launched in January 2012, the One Stop Ready program has a long-term goal of lowering barriers to businesses that want to locate in the county.
It encourages communities to review their policies, compare best practices and work hand-in-hand to make business development easier.
Trustee Jack Curtis said the program basically ‘helps take away the roadblocks for development.?
He assured the township board that at this point, there are no financial obligations associated with being part of One Stop Ready.
The township is one of seven participating communities, including Oxford Village, in the county program.
‘One Stop is making it easier to work with our township, our village and the other participating communities,? Curtis said.
