Goodrich-In 2012 the village council, by a 4-0 vote, approved bonds to finance the cost of improvements to the Dutch Road Bridge over the Kearsley Creek and repairs to Erie Street. Shelby Township-based Dan’s Excavating was awarded the bid for the job which begins this summer.
The construction cost of the Dutch Road Bridge improvements is $348,000, which includes replacement of the deck. The federal funding will pay $336,000 and the village will pay $17,400 along with engineering costs of $87,000 for the project.
The Erie Street project will begin when school is dismissed and includes milling, reservicing along with repair to drains along the section from the culvert over Kearsley Creek west to the end of the street. Construction costs are $225,000 with the village share about $45,000 along with $35,000 for engineering costs.
‘The bond money will allow for any expenses for the engineering and design,? said Jakki Sidge, village administrator.
A total of $275,000 will be used from the bond rather than dipping into the fund balance and will be paid back over approximately 10 years.
