Kingsbury Country Day School was awarded Evergreen status as a Michigan Green School for 2013.
The Evergreen status is the highest level of environmental consciousness awarded to Michigan schools.
This year, Kingsbury also received an Award of Excellence for incorporating sustainability into their everyday practices for five consecutive years.
This award was presented at the Green Schools Award Ceremony for Oakland County.
Green schools are recognized for practicing sustainability and environmental consciousness through activities and programs such as school-wide recycling, energy efficiency, and environmental protection and education.
Kingsbury has implemented many of their green practices through their Environmental Studies Program (ESP), which has been a part of the curriculum for 40 years.
James Dake, Kingsbury’s ESP instructor, accepted the award along with students Danny Files, Adam Griffith, and A.J. LaRoche.
