Oxford Parks and Recreation’s Soccer Gold Division RED Team recently travelled to Detroit at the invitation of David Dwaihy, co-owner of the Detroit City Football Club, a minor league soccer team that plays at Cass Tech High School.
Not only did the Oxford kids get to see the minor league stars beat Zanesville FC 2-0, they got to participate in a wacky relay race during half-time, sponsored by a taco vendor. After the game, the kids got autographs and posed for a photo on the field.
The game raised $4,000 for ‘Hooligans for Heroes,? a charity that benefits wounded warriors from the U.S. Armed Forces.
