It must be nearly summer because the Lake Orion Lions Club annual Jubilee will be held from Thursday through Sunday at Olde World Canterbury Village.
The annual event will feature more exciting events this year than ever before.
The carnival will be open from 5-10 p.m. on Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Money raised from the Jubilee will allow Lions to meet the needs in the community including the Annual Christmas Basket Program, eyesight and hearing programs and other community service projects.
Wristbands for the carnival that allow you to ride all the rides all day long are available for $20 at the event.
New this year is a Sports Card and Collectors show on Saturday and Sunday in the new Expo Hall behind the Christmas Store. Jim Leyland, Lou Whitaker, Marty Castillo are just some of those that will be signing autographs either on Saturday or Sunday. More information and a flier is available on the Lion’s website www.LakeOrionLions.org.
There will be a Big Wheel Race on Saturday at 11 a.m. in front of the Castle Restaurant for children ages four to eight. Winners in each age group will win a wristband for the carnival and a trophy. Registration forms can be found on the website.
On Friday through Sunday there will be an Arts and Crafts Fair inside the village area with more than 50 vendors. The Clansman’s Pub will have their beer garden open as well.
Volunteers from the Lake Orion High School girls? lacrosse team will be helping with parking and will accept donations for their organization. Last year they were able to raise more than $1,500 for their team.
The Lions Club will be selling beverages in the carnival area along with raffle tickets for a new Chrysler 200 car. Flares will also be available for purchase from the Lions booth for Flare Night which will be Wednesday, July 3.
The Lake Orion Lions Club has over 65 members and meets first and third Wednesdays each month at Canterbury Village. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
