Letter to Editor: Megan’s family says thanks

On behalf of our daughter Megan Abbott, we would like to thank the members of our community who have been so supportive during our recent family tragedy.
We have had condolences offered, meals delivered to our home, help with the care of our other children, and our house watched over.
We’ve only lived in Oxford for a short time but were overwhelmed with the kindness that we’ve encountered. We’ve listed those that we can remember at this time and apologize for any we’ve missed. The list includes:
Our parents who have been at our side during this entire journey. Oxford Middle & High School staff and Oxford School Administrators. Family and friends who joined the search for Megan. Oxford EMS.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies. The American Red Cross who expedited Darrin’s return home from his Army post. Friends and strangers who donated food to the funeral home as well as our home.
Pee Wee Patch in Lake Orion whose staff volunteered their time to care for our young son. Friends who organized the luncheon. The Salvation Army who donated the food for the luncheon.
Christ the King Church, Oxford, for donating their church for the luncheon and church members who volunteered their time to host the luncheon. Area churches whose members donated desserts for the luncheon.
The Oxford Leader for the sensitive article written about Megan. And those who have grieved with us and have prayed for healing for our family. We cannot thank all of you enough.
