Booters keep kicking wins

The boy’s varsity soccer continues to demand respect on the field as they recorded two more wins last week bringing their record to 3-0 in OAA Blue and 7-0 on the season.
On Sept. 12 the Wildcats hosted the Dragons of Schwarz Creek in a non-league match-up led to 4-0 win.
The Wildcats got on the board when senior captain Travis Simat was fouled inside the 18 and converted the ensuing PK. Shortly thereafter he would add his second goal on the night off a great feed inside the box from Noak Skrzycki.
Junior Tommy Downs got into the action with a great combination of passing from senior captain Chase Garavaglia to go up 3 – 0. With time winding down in the first half Skrzycki collected a great pass from Downs and with three quick moves he buried the ball in the back of the net for the Wildcats fourth and final goal of the night. Sophomore keeper Connor Bandel would only have to make one save in the first half.?
The second half saw the Wildcats change their line-up but to continue the attack on the Dragons net. Oxford had numerous chances but the Swartz Creek keeper thwarted any shots on goal. Bandel would only need to make a few more saves to preserve the shutout. Oxford’s defense of David Kitchner, Joe Hurford, Matt Reed, Travis Alderman and Drew Connelly stepped up again to stop any serious attack on goal.
‘The boys played a great game and really moved the ball around nicely in the first half. They were rewarded with prime opportunities to score and they did just that,? said Head Coach John Thaler. ‘I’m real proud of their performance.?
Earlier in the week Oxford owned Hazel Park as they beat them 8-0
‘The players showed great possession and movement of the ball which was what they were focusing on all week?, noted Thaler.
Many players got involved in the action and proved to be quite a handful for the host Vikings of Hazel Park.
Junior keeper Michael Dobies recorded the shutout only having to make one save on the night. Senior captain Travis Simat and sophomore Greg Knox recorded a brace while Justin Westphal, Tommy Downs, Francisco Rivera-Reyes and Devan deJong added one apiece.?
