A 17-year-old Lake Orion High School senior died on Monday night when the car in which she riding was struck on Seymour Lake Road, west of Sashabaw Road.
According to reports from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, the teen was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala that was eastbound on Seymour Lake Road and driven by a Brandon Township resident.
According to police reports, the Impala appeared to have crossed the center lane of Seymour Lake Road due to slippery road conditions and struck a 2000 Ford Focus that was traveling westbound at about 8 p.m.
The Orion teen was a front seat passenger.
The 2000 Ford Focus was being driven by an Oxford Township resident. The vehicle was occupied by two other passengers. Both passengers were Brandon Township residents.
The 17-year-old victim, whose name was not yet released at the time The Review was going to press, was taken to Genesis Hospital where she later died.
The driver of the Impala and the front seat passenger of the Ford Focus were also transported to Genesis by the Brandon Township Fire Department.
The driver and rear seat passenger of the Ford Focus were transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac by the Oxford Township Fire Department. They are both in stable condition.
Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
