Playground at Friendship Park has a name, “Dragon’s Den”

Dawson Wolff, a Carpenter Elementary 4th grader, Teagan and Madyson Walter, from Webber Elementary in first and second grade respectively, all came up with the name ‘Dragon’s Den? during the Friendship Park naming contest. The contest was submitted to elementary schools in Lake Orion, as well as advertised in the Lake Orion Review.
After grueling efforts by township officials and community member input, Dragon’s Den was selected from over 148 unique names. As reward, Joe Zimmer granted each child a gift certificate to Culver’s and handed each elementary student a certificate of achievement.
Aside from the kids themselves, the township would like to thank Aaron Whately, Orion Township Parks Crew Leader, for all his effort in the reconstruction of the playground, and Keri Anderson, Principle at Carpenter, and Sarah Manzo of Webber Elementary, who both were a great help in getting the kids to participate. Of course, Joe Zimmer of Culvers is always very supportive, and did not bat an eye when asked to donate an award. Welcome to the Dragon Den, Orion Township’s newest Destination point, an attraction for all communities.
