The Lake Orion wrestling team had four matches during the past week, including the Oakland County championships.
The Dragons finished 17th in the county championships tournament.
Senior David Moore came in second in the county championships at 119 pounds. Four other wrestlers, senior Devon Fulcher, 160 pounds; Senior Trey Reynolds, 152 pounds, Senior Paul Scott, heavyweight and Sophomore Dominic Fosmoen at 112 pounds all qualified for the second day of competitions after picking up wins..
The Dragons and Farmington Hills Harrison scrapped to a tie (33-33) tie on Wednesday. The MHSAA rule official followed the wrestling tiebreaker rules and Lake Orion won by virtue of the amount of wins.
Bridger Smart pinned Josh Robinson that ultimately led to the tie-breaking pin.
Lake Orion’s second match was a close loss to Rochester Stoney Creek (33-39). Chris Morrow, Chris Warren, Devon Fulcher, Foesman, and Moore all had pins.
Lake Orion also tried for a repeat of last year’s win at the Romeo Invitational.
Unfortunately, the Dragons lost their last match against Utica Eisenhower by only four points (36-32) to claim the runner-up trophy. Moore, Fulcher, Smart and junior Kaelan Harbin all went undefeated on the day.
Junior Vince Ritter, and sophomores Warren, Foesman, and Austin Shugar only lost one match.
The Wrestlers also traveled to Hartland to compete against Howell (33-43) and Hartland (4-71). Senior Captain Moore went undefeated on the day. Austin Shugar, Foesman, Trey Reynolds, Fulcher, and Scott won their matches against Howell.
