Oxford Police Chaplain David Gerber assisted authorities with a suicidal subject. The chaplain spoke with the Orion Township man on his cell phone, and then again at the man’s home, until help and medical attention could arrive. The subject was taken away for treatment with little incident.

A 58-year-old Crawford St. resident reported receiving numerous hang-up phone calls every day, at all times of the day, over the past month.
Assault and battery reported between a 40-year-old woman and her daughter’s ex-boyfriend in the Village Manor Apartments on Crawford St.
A group of youths standing in the southeast quadrant parking lot and thought to be violating curfew were actually just waiting for their rides after seeing a late night movie.

A 20-year-old Leonard man has accused an 18-year-old Oxford man of stabbing him in the head and face with a pocket size knife while at a party. Authorities were not called at the time and the victim refused to be taken for medical treatment by friends.

A resident on Sebek reported that someone had spray painted her front lamp post.
A Leonard man was cited for driving with a suspended license after being pulled over for an expired license plate.
Thursday, July 31
A caller complained of several kids out front of a Lakesedge Dr. home being loud.
A 17-year-old Oxford Lakes Dr. resident was cited for reckless driving after a sheriff’s deputy saw the youth make a fast turn onto southbound M-24 from Drahner Rd. During the turn, “the tires broke free and the rear of the vehicle started to spin.” The youth regained control of his car and continued down M-24. The officer followed the youth, but could not pace him after traveling 70 miles per hour. While traveling down the road, the officer also saw the youth cut off another vehicle while changing lanes. The officer stopped the driver in front of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The youth later came to the Oxford Sheriff’s Substation to argue the citation stating “he was going to loose his car if he got a ticket. His parents would not believe him.”
