There can be only one Mr. Oxford and this year, it’s Cody Roop.
Roop, a senior at Oxford High School, beat out 14 contestants to win the coveted crown Feb. 26.
For the competition, contestants strutted around in formal wear and beachwear, then showed off their various talents and answered questions from the pageant hosts.
The talent portion included some truly memorable performances such as Roop’s donning tights, a pink tutu and little pink wings for a ballet dance that was definitely a crowd-pleaser. It’s not often you get to see a football player do that.
Senior Lewis Marshall reprised a popular act from his younger days. He used his nose to play ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb? on a recorder.
Years ago, Marshall did the same thing for an elementary school talent show, except back then, he dressed up like Mary.
Other contestants for Mr. Oxford included seniors Luke Champion, Liam Bauer, Alex Grodzicki, Christopher Lavender, Mitch Tilley, Paul Kozlowski, Mike Harris, and Owen Bachusz along with juniors Glacier Wallington, Jacob Winkelman, Lars Joergens and Connor Elzerman.
