The Oxford Middle School Wrestling team took first place at the Sixth Annual Oakland County Championships March 8 held at Lake Orion High School.
Eighteen Wildcat wrestlers competed in a field that included 25 teams.
Individual champions included :Liam Hillary (85 pounds), Matthew Curtis, (90 pounds), and Devin Trevino (152 pounds); Second place was Shane Moore (80 pounds); Third place: Joe Vackaro (95 pounds), Caleb Tabert (100 pounds), Thomas Wandrie (110 pounds) and Joe Calhoun (140 pounds); Fourth place: Trent Myre (115 pounds,) Austin Schlicht, (125 pounds,) and Shane Brown (171 pounds).
‘The boys all wrestled well and this was a team effort. Many valuable points were earned in the consolation brackets and rounds,? said Oxford wrestling mom Heather Hillary in an e-mail to the Leader.
