District approves pool partnership

Hey there swimmers and school pool users, it’s official, Oxford Community Schools has a new partner with AquaClub aquatic programming.
To celebrate the new partnership the community is invited to a free Open House event on Saturday, April 12 at Oxford Natatorium from 11:30 a.m. ? 1:30 p.m., where the AquaClub staff will be showcasing the new features of the aquatics center including the swim school, water polo team, and ProSwimClinic.
‘We are very excited to partner with AquaClub for aquatics programming,? said OHS Athletic Director Mike Watson. ‘The staff is incredibly qualified and knowledgeable and the programming will be able to fit the needs of a growing community.?
According to a press release ‘AquaClub aims to provide Olympic caliber coaching to the Oxford community and to grow a top notch aquatics program.?
Programs will include a swim school, a competitive swim team, water polo, diving, water aerobics, community open swim and more.
‘AquaClub is dedicated to sharing their knowledge and passion for aquatics by motivating and empowering patrons to dream big and to inspire excellence in every aspect of life by providing a professional environment designed to nurture the abilities of members,? stated the press release.
The club is headed by personal coach Nimrod (Nim) Shapira Bar Or and Head Swim Coach Chris Sullivan. Shapira Bar -Or is a native of Israel and is a two time Olympian representing his country at both the 2008 and 2012 Summer Games. He also captured a NCAA championship and was a 10 time All American while competing for the University of Arizona. Chris Sullivan is a native of Rockford, Michigan where he was a five time MHSAA champion for the Rams in addition to helping his team to a state water polo championship. While at Oakland University, Sullivan earned NCAA All American status five times.
‘It’s going to be a new shift for our community to be sure. However, the delivery of programs will be professional and will accomplish many goals,? Watson said. ‘The learn to swim programs will be conducted by trained professionals and the competitive swim club will be led by some of the most accomplished swimmers in the country and worldwide.?
