Pee Wee Patch Child Development Center will be offering four free movies this summer for Orion community members to enjoy in their playground area.
Book fairs, market days, an Easter egg hunt, Mommy and Me tea, a silent auction and cookie dough events raised enough money to purchase an inflatable screen with a projection and speakers.
‘It’s kind of like the old fashion drive-in movie but you will be sitting out on the grass. It’s more like DTE concerts sitting out on the hill,? Executive Director Ellen Terpening said. ‘It’s a fun way to give back and share with your children what you did in the past. You are able to go back to some of your roots and share with our families and bond.?
The film ‘Jungle Book? will kick off the outdoor movie series on July 12 at dusk. For Christmas in July, ‘Santa Clause? will be played and candy canes will be handed out on July 25. The movie ‘Rio? will be shown on August 9, and ‘Madagascar 3? is coming on August 22.
Movie events are weather permitting and will be rescheduled if it rains.
‘We aren’t just a childcare center,? Terpening said. ‘We hope to establish that we care about the community.?
Attendees are recommended to bring blankets, foldout chairs, pillows, kids bug spray, jackets, and can bring children in their PJ’s.
Popcorn, candy and refreshments will be provided.
‘Giving back to the community was very important to Pee Wee Patch and we wanted to get back on track for that and I thought this would be a great idea to do so,? Terpening said.
